Helen Petit

I’m a local artist based in Kingsbridge. Seven years ago when I moved to the South Hams I set myself a project to draw and paint along the extraordinary landscape of the South West Coast Path from Bantham to Dartmouth. I’ve been seeking out remote rocky coves and cliffs along this rich coastline – Lannacombe, Soar Mill, Bolt Head and Bolt Tail.
I paint in oils, pastels and watercolour and am most inspired by painting outside – en plein air – so that I can respond dynamically to the atmosphere, the colours and the changing light.
I have painted all my life, studying Fine Art at Winchester College of Art (B.A.) and at the Slade (Post graduate). I have exhibited extensively in the UK, as well as in France and Australia, both in solo and group exhibitions. I tend to work in themes over several years.
